3.5" Active Matrix TFT Color LCD - USB - MPN: 0100057610
Strengths: Traffic feature works
Weakness: Poor routing, poorly integrated traffic information
Compared to my old StreetPilot the map is difficult to follow and the voice instructions are late and often take a confusing form such as 'Turn left and then turn left' - especially when one navigating complex urban areas. The traffic works but requires you to more through at least one menu just to make use the existing functionality - very inconvenient. And the automatic rerouting can not be trusted - it does not take the traffic on the road it is rerouting you into consideration. For instance, the other day there was a jam on I87 Deegan North in NYC - the rerouting tried to put me back into Manhattan on the Harlem River Drive North which was even more jammed.

TopStrengths: Traffic capability
Weakness: Routing Volume control
After some research we found this model had some good reviews and seemed to fit our needs. This replaced an older car GPS that had outdated maps and had a small screen. After taking this on a 800 mile trip and shorter 120 mile trip to familiar areas we both wish we would have updated the maps on our older unit.
We did not like the fact that there is no volume control on this unit or the difficulty in seeing the screen during daylight hours.
Directions seemed to come late and were confusing at times; especially with highways / interstates that split. My wife and I often found ourselves scratching our heads when the GPS directed us to exit onto a state highway and then back to the interstate (did not see much of a time / mileage savings).
A second shorter trip I purposely went off course to test the recalculation. Since I had a little extra time I drove to the point where I thought it would get the hint and route me down a different highway...nope it got me back to where I was supposed to go the first time. Later using Google maps I found that this insistance was actually 7 miles further but must have been a bit faster.
Overall, an okay device but if I had to do it over again I would have updated the maps in the older device.

Lots of value for the bucks
Strengths: Free lifetime traffic service Reads actual street names Form factor Bluetooth
Weakness: Screen detail could be sharper Does not include an AC charger
This device was released for Q3 in 2008 and there are some nice advances over prior models. One major one is that it includes the traffic receiver and it comes with lifetime traffic service.
Many of the less expensive models from Garmin and others do not include the ability to read the actual street names. This one does! Hearing only "turn left" or "turn right" may get you there, but having the actual street names read aloud gives a higher level of confidence.
The form factor is small enough to fit in a pocket and as the unit will run on battery power, it is nice to take with you when traveling by foot or in a rental car to other cities.
I bought this for my girlfriend after having a Garmin 360 for a couple of years and loving it. This model also boasts bluetooth connectivity so that your cell phone can use this as a speakerphone. Cooler than that is the fact that you can have the device look for a restaurant and have it dial your cell on speaker to make a reservation!
One aspect I was a little disappointed in was that the screen is not as sharp as my older model. It is not bad, just not quite as sharp in detail. Also, my 360 came with an AC charger, which was nice for travel. This one does not.
All in all, Garmin does not disappoint with this latest offering. For the price, you get a lot of GPS!
