After introducing movie rentals and ability to directly access/purchase content, Apple has taken this product to a new level and turned into your multi-media gateway.
HD movie rentals are great. Selection is still limited but quality of video/audio better than cable HD but less than Blue Ray. Apple is slowly but surely adding new content daily.
I have over 7000 songs on my PC laptop the product lets me listen to this library on real system. Apple TV connects nicely with your home theater system and produces great sound.
There are lots of free content, such as Anderson Coopers, Larry King video episodes published as podcasts. You can also put all your photos in your computer to display via Apple Tv.
You can purchase TV shows using Apple TV as well. But these are not in HD. You can buy entire season at the same time which is quite nice.
The user interface is excellant, allowing you to quickly find any external or internal content. This is a great device and a completely different way of enjoying media.
The movie content in iTunes store still limited, Apple needs to add more rapidly to its movie library. Also, once you hit play on a rental you have 24hrs to view the movie. This could be a problem for some.
Bottomline, for the price this is a great product. Fills the missing digital media link between your HD tv and home theater to cool media sources.

TopStrengths: HDMI connections for new HDTV's allowing one to view HD Itunes movies and TV shows
Weakness: Small remote.. for the novice user setting up the network might require some tech support-- I had my Linksys router set up for me thankfully they have 24 hour support
I have been sitting on the fence to buy not to buy-- the reviews that had been coming out when this product debut was not impressive. Since they Apple has fixed the bugs and its now possible to enjoy this addition to your HDTV. Simple to use once you get past setting up the wifi network which for me required calling a 3rd Party to set up after wards the simple plug and play Apple has known for. New products always lag behind on 3rd party applications to JAZZ up the APPLE product... there are even 3rd party applications can be make the Apple TV better.

Weakness: needs more content, remote control may be too simple & not very responsive, likes to freeze when not in use, no TV connection wires came in the box
There is no simpler way to get the content from your iTunes to your television. The setup is beyond simple. Plug it in your TV via component or HDMI then plug it in. Open iTunes & you are streaming. I use my Apple TV every day, to watch the latest movie trailers, my music videos or even photos from my recent trip, its there for me. With the addition of movie rentals & the ability to purchase other content from iTunes makes it a wonderful product that compliments & connects my computer to my entertainment system.
