I bought this along with the new xbox360 elite system. Ater previously owning an xbox360 premium system all I can say is it works great just like the original but I like the looks of it better in the new black.

The black or Elite 360 controller is nearly identical to the standard white controller. I believe the internal components are the same, but the black controller feels better in my hands. The finish is a little less slippery maybe. Maybe its in my head, but who knows.

TopStrengths: To me, there is no difference between this new controller and the one that came with my Xbox 360.
Weakness: Didn't know that the headset is a separate purchase.
I thought that I was wearing out the original Xbox 360 controller, and guests were coming over, so I thought to purchase the additional controller for multi-player enjoyment. The XBox 360 didn't immediately recognize the new controller until I pressed the small, round configuration/reset button on the front. After that, the controller and console were happy together.
I found out that I played just as terribly with the new controller as with the old, and so, there is no difference between controllers (at least for me).

TopStrengths: Sleek look, smooth finish, matches the 360 Elite Edition
Weakness: Sliglty more expensive than original white one, needs matching rechargable kit for all-black looks unless you stay with batteries
Original XBox 360 controller had a lot going for it, solid wireless signal, good precision, comfortable for most people to use.
This model builds on all these great qualities and add some additional points for style. Particularly for folks like me who preferred the Black and Green look of the original XBox to the plain white of the earlier 360 models.
Finally, now with the Elite Edition and the matching controllers we have the black back. And its awesome!

This is the black version of the standard Xbox 360 controller and it looks great whether you have the matching black Elite 360 or not. In fact, it would make a nice counterpart to a standard white 360. If you are going to buy a new controller you might as well go for something different!

Although it is suppposed to be same, it feels better than the white controller. I don't think there is a weight difference but this one seems more solid while playing.
Couple of things that I don't like are the fact that it does not matches the white color of xbox 360 (unless you have the latest hdmi models)
Also I had a white play & charge kit which looks ugly with this one so I probably will have to buy a black kit
For some reason this one is difficult to buy at a bargain price while there are lot of deals on white one.
Still I have found it a pretty good buy so far

You can use up to four at once with absolutely zero interference. This gen controller is much better than the 1st gen. They've really learned from their past mistakes to make the near perfect controller. A lot of 360 games includes multiplayer so getting multiple controllers is a must. Nothing beats storming a hotel with four people on a big screen hi def tv and one xbox 360 and one copy of tom clancy's rainbow 6 vegas.

This is an awesome XBOX 360 controller (I have 4). Looks great with my Black XBOX 360. Matches everything in my Home Theater system. Love the wireless capability and freedom that comes with it. Great Price. Must Have.

The new black version of Microsoft's controller is almost exactly like the original white version, but just black. So basically if you have used the white you know what to expect. It is a very good controller and one of the most comfortable that I have used. It feels great and is well worth the money if you need another controller.

TopStrengths: It's pretty much a controller, it just matches the new elite system. The performance is just the same as the white ones.
Weakness: The only one I can think of is maybe the d-pad performance.
If you need another controller for your box, it doesn't really matter if it's black or white, but if you own an elite 360 you'll want to get the black one to match. This controller is just as good as my white ones.

TopStrengths: If you have the white version .. It's the same. Just the color is different. Still very strong and responsive.
Weakness: I just wish it has a turbo button.
Probably the best controller out there. You can also use this with you PC by using Wireless adapter from microsoft.
It works like a charm .. and many games on PC supports this controller. Specially if you play your PC game thru your plasma.. then you should get this one.

Weakness: The D-pad is a bit wonky
It's no secret the 360's controller is hailed by most gamers as top-notch. Everything about it (except for the horrid dpad) is pretty much perfect. The addition of the guide button in the center makes accessing the 360's dashboard extremely easy. The new placement of the start and back buttons, along with the white and black buttons are extremely welcome. Overall, this is the best controller I've ever used for a console.

The Xbox 360 black wireless controller works the same as the white one, but the black one matches my PC and the Xbox 360 Elite. It works great and is very comfortable.

I've tested a lot of third party controllers for the original Xbox and Xbox 360 and none can compare to the incredible features this controller has. First and foremost the visually aesthetic design makes it stand out from the others and it doesn't get uncomfortable when you're playing for hours on end. This controller also has a very strong and reliable wireless signal as well as precision, two very important factors to any wireless controller. This controller is awesome and worth every penny, trust me you won't be disappointed!!

First of all, I think in general black looks better than a white console. I was disappointed when 360 console is released with white color, which looks not as good as the old box. Good thing, m$ realized it and is going to release Elite in black.
Second, I think it's a good idea to choose a different color than white, even you don't think black looks better than white. Reason is simple, this black one and the original white one coming from the package makes a good pair. I am sure, after you game break, you and your friend won't pick up the wrong controller when playing together.

This black Xbox 360 controller is awesome. The black looks really cool and it works great with all games. The green lights on the controller really makes this controller look great.
Its no better than the regular white one the only difference is the color.

TopStrengths: - Better grip on the controller compared to the beige one, due to the matte black surface - Great button layout, and very comfortable for most hands - No lag or mishaps with the wireless controller
Weakness: - Does not come with a rechargeable battery - Black surface hides dirt
Overall, this is a solid X-box 360 controller, and I prefer them to the third party MadCatz controllers. They are roughly the same price and offer wireless freedom, and the solid design of a first party controller. I find that the black controller has a slightly different finish, and is easier to grip, as opposed to the beige controller which can become slippery with sweaty hands.

One of the best controllers on the market
Strengths: wireless range balance nonslip covering
Weakness: none
I think this controller is a little bit nicer than the white model because the black colored controller seems to have a different outer coating on it that makes my hands slip less. The controller is just as balanced as the older model and it appears the only change that was made was in the color and possibly the coating.
